A few of V's favorite things

6 months and a very happy half a birthday to Veronica. Turns out babies don't even get half of a birthday cake at 6 months. Very disappointing. So instead, this post is being fueled by some impious Easter candy.

A fellow Libra of Veronica's claimed that being born under the sign of balance means that Libra's don't have most favorite or least favorite things. All things remain in balance at all times. I won't name any names behind this zodiological tomfoolery. Instead, I will present a mountain of evidence of Veronica enjoying a few of her favorite things.

Books are the best. And reading books with Momma is beyond compare. In fact, Veronica has developed what can only be described as uncontrollable bloodlust for the written word.

Toys are fun and stuffed animals are cool, but Douglas is the best. And playing with Douglas after tubby is Veronica's favorite.

Parents are cool, but Dads are the clear favorite. And not just because they can write in a third person voice, but because you can ride them around the house.

Swinging inside in the jump & go? Sure,
it's fine. But swinging at the park is Veronica's new favorite.

Favorite tv show theme song? Check.

But what about tubby, you say? What about the videos of Veronica struggling in the tubby? That's in the past. Our big girl is sitting up on her own and tubby time is the best.

Hopefully all this evidence proves that Veronica has a few favorite things and, without naming any names, was able to point out silly zodiac based views.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone. Veronica definitely won't be eating any green food today. She has made her opinion on that matter very clear. And Momma won't allow green food coloring to be added to Veronica's bottles. So what you see is what you get.

Are you there Spring? It's me, Veronica

Spring should be arriving to Seattle anyday now, but we woke up to a dusting of snow this morning for the third day in a row. The Sun manages to bully its way through the clouds by mid afternoon and allow us to take some walks around the neighborhood. But as you can tell from the image above, Veronica might disagree with how much warmer it is with the Sun out. Not to say it isn't fun.

As promised, her are some videos of Veronica being tortured in her high chair. Jarred peas were... well, jarring (does that even count as a pun or is "the reaction to jarred vegetables" an accepted definition?). We decided to go for broke and offer avocado.

Day Care and the High Chair

Daycare started this week. The first day was expectedly difficult and Veronica shed her first tear at the morning drop off, which broke Momma’s heart and she shed a few too. When Momma picked her up at the end of the day they described Veronica’s amount of crying throughout the day as “typical”… not “a lot” or “not much”, but typical. I don’t think they typically see happy babies on the first day. Daddy was glad for once to have the long commute to work and avoid the daycare drop off and pick up all together.

Thankfully, everyone felt much better at home.

The adventures in solid food continue. Veronica gave peas a chance this week, with predictable results. Sweet potatoes were next on the menu, but they weren’t received any better than the peas. For now, we are back to rice cereal and that makes everyone happy.

...Happy Birthday to Carmen...and Happy Birthday to Auntie Heather...Happy Square-Root Day to Auntie GG...and some videos will be posted soon, but Picasa requires a separate program for that (silly Google).

Eating it up

We've known for a while now where Veronica got her appetite. And now we know who she shares her love of food with. Veronica started on rice cereal last week and has been picking up how to eat from a spoon. We propped her up in her high chair (don't worry Mimi and Grandmom, there are the three towels holding her up). It was a little confusing at first, but made sense once the rice cereal appeared.

Veronica got to dress up for a wedding and a Bar Mitzvah over the past two weekends. Which I only mention as an excuse to post pictures of Veronica in her cutest outfits

Gettin' Saucy

And you thought Veronica liked the Jump & Go? Forget about it, it's already last week's news. Introducing the Exer-Saucer! The Exer-Saucer is the Jump & Go times 10! The early reviews have been rave from Veronica.

Veronica enjoyed her first Super Bowl last weekend. With Pittsburgh's win, NFL teams from Pennsylvania now average 3 Super Bowl wins. And NFL teams from New England average 0.5 Super Bowl wins per state (3 wins/6 states). Clearly Veronica made the right choice, as opposed to some others!

Veronica found all of the food at the Super Bowl to be quite intimidating, but she was so inspired by her glutonous parents that she decided to give solid food a try this week. Dr. Tom gave Veronica the go ahead to try some rice cereal. Most of it ended up on her sleeper or chin, but a little bit made it down her gullet.

Jumpin G. Willikers!

We introduced Veroninca to the the Jump & Go last night. Veronica was so excited that her eyes popped out of her head and rolled onto the floor, but they still never stopped looking at the Jump & Go. Veronica had a great time in the jumper and we didn't even turn the ADHD-inducing-lights-and-sounds until the end.

In other Veronica related news, Momma returned to work last week and Veronica was not happy. Momma got the stink eye from V when she walked in the door at the end of the day. Fortunately for everyone involved, Veronica has adjusted and is all smiles when Momma gets home from work now. Most fortunate of all is Daddy, who is home for another three weeks on paternity leave and enjoying the unseasonably sunny weather.
